My third novel, Beyond a Dream, is currently being read by beta readers. After that will be the final edit, and then I can set a date for release!
Since I’m currently sitting around waiting for my readers to get back to me, I’ve been thinking on what project I want to work on next. I have two new stories I want to write but I keep thinking about Kiss of the Fey. I started the first draft of Kiss of The Fey in high school. I was in college when I finally published it but my writing has matured considerably since then. (It’s been three and a half years already?? How does time move so quickly??) Because I still love the characters, I believe my next project will be to rewrite Kiss of the Fey and rerelease it as a second edition. (One of the benefits to self-publishing!) At the same time I may work on one of the new ideas I have floating around.
I know I haven’t been active enough in the community for anyone to care about updates like this but that’s okay. I just don’t have the time to promote and socialize with other bloggers like when I was in school. That’s just life, I guess.
I’ve retitled my most recent novel once again to be a bit more fitting. I feel like I’ve been working on this book forever but by the end of tomorrow I’ll order a proof copy for myself and a few friends to read over for a final edit.
I’m really proud of myself for what I’ve done with this story but I’m also terrified that no one else will appreciate it. I feel like I’ve poured my soul into this one, at least partially, and really hope my readers (few as they may be) can connect with the characters.
I can’t wait to read it as an actual physical book so that I can get around to setting a publishing date. I’m hoping to get this done before the end of the year but who knows.
I’m super excited to share this with the world. I really like the story and I think you guys will too!
For those of you without money who are interested, I’m looking for reviewers and will give a free PDF or MOBI of Wildflower Crown in exchange for an honest review to be posted on Amazon, Goodreads, and your blog. You can comment below or use the contact form on my “contact” page to ask about getting a copy.
One of my favorite series has another book coming out this month, and the author has just released chapter one for… book three? Maybe? Possibly book four? I forget. I’m terrible, I know, but check it out, realize it’s awesome, then consume all the other books before the next one is released. Get to it.
I’m super excited to be getting closer to the release of Kiss of The Fey! I’m reading over the book for some last minute tweaks just to dot my i’s and cross my t’s. I’m really happy with how the book turned out. It’s been a long process, almost four years from the first form of the story until now, but I’m glad I stuck with it. It was worth it.
I’m also working on my second book, and I’m about halfway done with the first draft. I want to get it written as soon as possible. After getting Kiss of The Fey ready for publishing, I realized how much I enjoy all the work! I’m glad I’m publishing right as school starts. All the homework should distract me from the big gaping hole that the editing and formatting previously filled.
The official release date of Kiss of The Fey will be September 1st! I’m excited to finally share my work with the world! While you’re waiting for the release, you can read the prologue and first chapter here.
Johara stormed away from the balcony, slamming the glass door and making a dramatic entrance into the ballroom. Most of the guests ignored her, but the queen caught her eye and beckoned her over.
“Johara dear, what is this fuss about?” her stepmother asked. She sipped at her drink and kept a smile on her face. The queen was dressed in a smooth silk dress covered in pearls and gems of many colors. Her hair was tucked away without a single strand out of place.
Johara’s dress was ruffled and torn at the strap. She knew that her turban had come askew as well. “A man tried to take advantage of me on the balcony,” Johara said. Belinda shushed her, drawing her back further from the crowd of people.
“Quiet dear,” she hissed. “There’s a party going on. We wouldn’t want news of you losing your flower out on the balcony to spread.”
I finished editing Kiss of The Fey and then stayed up until 4 in the morning to format the interior of the book (as well as the spine) to submit the files to Createspace for review. This morning I ordered the proof copy. I should have it in a week or two!
I don’t really know what to do with my life now. Between now and September 1st will be marketing, I guess. After the frantic editing and writing and overall obsession over Kiss of The Fey, I feel a little lost now that it doesn’t need more work. I’ll probably return to working on A Game of Madness.
